the book 'it happened to nancy' is really sad.
i started crying towards the end :/
i read it in 7th grade and i was new to all sort of diseases and junk.
so it left me pretty shocked.
another book that is similar to that is called 'go ask alice' and it's really good as well.
have fun =)

Ah I see we like the same kind of books. :) Definitely definitely read The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Heart On My Sleeve, Stop Pretending:What Happened When My Big Sister Went Crazy, What My Mother Doesn't Know, Cut, Sloppy Firsts, and Give A Boy A Gun. I also reccomend my favorite book ever, Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block. It's a really amazing book and it's really short. :D
amandajoy.[info]thatkillersmile on July 28th, 2006 02:10 pm (UTC)
I'm reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower now. I have about 10 or so pages to go.

I've heard The Perks of Being a Wallflower is amazing.

It's on the top of my "to read" list.

i just ran across your journal through jr__nal.
i'm a big reader. the ones i've read are: speak, hard love (very good.. i've read it twice), the perks of being a wallflower, to kill a mockingbird, heart on my sleeve, stop pretending: what happened when my big sister went crazy, you don't know me (one of my favorites!), define "normal", & go ask alice.
some books that i enjoyed are: lovely bones by alice sebold, white oleander by janet fitch, night by elie wiesel (a school read but, so good! about the holocaust), i am the wallpaper, & kissing doorknobs! (so good! about a girl with the struggles of obsessive compulsive disorder.. really short too).
have fun reading! (:

I like the idea of a bood list, I think you're the only one I've seen with one. Mind me adding you? I'm Adrian.

Don't mind at all, Adrian. Added you back.
NICOLE.: obsessiveicons-bigben[info]sidewalks on December 5th, 2006 11:50 am (UTC)

I have read so many of those books.
The Bell Jar is one of my favorite books of all time.
TJ[info]t_mak on January 7th, 2007 05:03 pm (UTC)
I've read Speak, it was pretty good. And to kill a mockingbird, that was great. But my favorite book of all time is Catcher in the Rye because Holden is such a sarcastic son of a bitch. I can't help but to say I am the character.
I like the count of monte cristo and ethan frome as well...classics.
Ashley: Milo & Jared[info]ashleyylauren on April 7th, 2007 01:05 am (UTC)
Ah, pretty much all of those are on my list of books to read as well.
You should definitely read Sloppy Firsts as soon as you can. It's sooo good.

As for suggestions:
Lisa, Bright and Dark is a pretty good book about a schizophrenic girl.
Please Stop Laughing at Me - Jodee Blanco. Her story of how she'd been bullied all throughout school. It's amazinggg.

Happy reading :D

Of the books you haven't read I've read The Truth about Forever, Cut, and Go Ask Alice.

If you liked This Lullaby, I think you'll also like The Truth about Forever. Personally, I am a huge fan of Sarah Desson and have enjoyed all of her novels I have read.

I also really enjoyed both Cut and Go Ask Alice. They're both relatively short reads, but very eye-opening. When I read Go Ask Alice I didn't put it down. Cut I have one or two problems with, but it's still a good read.

I loved This Lullaby and I am currently reading The Truth About Forever.

I've read a few of those. And a lot of them I have on my own "to-read" list, which I have yet to make a dent in. Which sorta sucks, cause I really like reading. lol.

Oh yeah, erm, I found you through [info]topicless. Hope it's okay if I added you. If not, no hard feelings :)
